Make sure you come to the spring play, Romeo and Juliet!

I was honored to be able to interview Director, Michael Schuh, about this year’s spring play. He hopes you will attend and watch all the amazing actors at Preble put on timeless performance with a twist.

  • When is the Spring Play? April 29th and April 30th at 7PM.
  • What is the play this year about? This year’s play is a classic, Romeo and Juliet.  “We’ve done mostly comedies for the past few years so we wanted to put on a drama that would be something different and make viewers engaged,” says Schuh.
  • How much are for the tickets? Tickets are $5.00 for students and staff. They will be $10.00 for the general public.
  • What does the cast list look like? There will be staff members for the adult roles and students performing the roles of teenagers. “With this play I wanted to show the differences between the age, I think it helps understand the content of the show. It provides it a different kind of feel, a different type of personally,” explains Schuh.
  • What challenges has the play faced? Schuh elaborates, “One biggest challenges the crew members have faced with the play would be coming back from Covid-19 and working through the Shakespearean language to ensure that everyone is on the right track. Another challenge is working with big set pieces or scenes and then switching to smaller ones. It’s been hard to balance that while dealing with dancing and choreography. The goal is to make the fighting scenes seem realistic, but we don’t want anyone getting hurt, which has also been a challenge.”

You won’t want to miss this year’s play! It’s classical literature through a more modern lens set in the 70’s, which will make this play unique and entertaining. Don’t miss this opportunity to see your very own Preble teachers and talented peers perform! Listen to the daily announcements for more information on ticket sales.
