Local News:

On September 28, 2021 on the UW-Green Bay trail, a body was discovered around 12:30 A.M. When the first responders got to the scene, they witnessed a grass fire at the northwest corner of the Cofrin Memorial Arboretum. They then put this out, and found a body. After a few days, the police finally found out who the victim was. The victim was Jason Mendez-Ramos, a 36 year old male from Ashwaubenon. Police say that Jason was not related to the university at all and they are treating the event as a homicide. Police were looking for Mendez-Ramos’s 2010 red Ford Fusion sedan, but it was recently located  in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the east side of Green Bay, according to a news release from the Green Bay Police Department.

The news release said, “the car appears to have been parked at the lot for weeks, but had gone unnoticed by apartment residents and people passing by.”

Police are still looking for who started the fire and continuing to investigate the incident. They have not said whether they have any suspect in the case.
