Neverwas. Now that’s a book. Neverwas is the second novel in the Amber House Trilogy by American author Kelly Moore and her daughters, Tucker and Larkin Reed. Neverwas is a different timeline, an alternate history if you will, then that of Amber House. It’s a place where the colonists lost the 1776 Insurrection, where the American Confederation of States still struggles with segregation, and where Sarah is haunted by echoes of a better world that she knows never existed. Sarah sees echoes of a different time, the correct time. Her friend Jackson also sees similar visions of what is supposed to be. Both of them manage to remember the way things ought to be and they plan a daring mission that will reset the universe once again. Sarah must figure out what has changed, and why, and how she can fix it–how she can find her way to another otherwhen.
I enjoyed the second novel so much. It is very different from the first but it all connects and it’s more of a thrilling read than the first novel, Amber House. It’s interesting to see how everything plays out in this alternate reality. How certain little things change and it changes everything drastically. Like I said before don’t be all that prepared to expect a third book unfortunately any time soon. The third unwritten book is called Otherwhen. I still hold a glimmer of hope that it will come out at some point in my life. Happy reading!
