Jane the Virgin

I’m just going to say it. Jane the Virgin is the BEST SHOW EVER. It is rated TV-14 and it is categorized in the “Romantic TV Comedies” section. The main character is Jane Villanueva who is a 23 year old, religious Latina. She lives with her strong, independent mother, Xiomara and her compassionate, but strict grandmother, Alba. The three Latina women have such a strong bond and support each other through everything life throws their way. Throughout the five seasons, a narrator leads us through all the events in Jane’s busy, stressful, but wonderful life. She meets the love of her life, gets a job that she doesn’t thoroughly enjoy, finally meets her father, Rogelio de la Vega, for the first time in her life, and has some complicated friendships, especially with a character named Petra. I couldn’t recommend this show any more! I’ve talked to multiple people who have also LOVED it. I personally would watch all five seasons again! You’ll get extremely invested with the characters and their relationships. It is super heartwarming. I smiled, cried, and laughed along with them. If you have Netflix, go add it to your list!

Julie and the Phantoms

After her mother passed away, Julie lost her love for music and performing. That is until she meets teenage ghosts, Luke, Reggie, and Alex who were in a band of their own. Together, they create music, form a band, and Julie finally finds her love for music again! Julie tries to keep these ghost friends a secret until her little brother, Carlos, and her best friend, Flynn, are onto her suspicious behavior. This show is rated TV-G and despite possibly sounding too immature, it is WORTH it! If you’re having a bad day or don’t want to watch a super deep, dark emotional show, check this one out! It’s super sweet, there’s great friendships, and tons of music involved that’ll make you want to get up and sing with them! This is definitely a family friendly show if you’re looking for one! There is only one season so far, which left off on a cliffhanger, so I’m hoping for another season although it has not been announced yet.
